A look behind the scenes: These people ensure order, cleanliness, and sweet dreams.

Cleanliness and a pleasant atmosphere are essential for guests to feel comfortable in a place. For this reason, housekeeping is one of the most important departments in a hotel. But what does their work involve? Who works in housekeeping at the Weisse Arena Group and what does their everyday work look like?

Entering a spotless, tidy, and comfortably furnished room is essential for a relaxing stay in a hotel or apartment. A diverse and motivated team is responsible for ensuring a clean and inviting environment within the Weisse Arena Group's properties.

At the Weisse Arena Group, the team led by Ana Paula Dias Goncalves, Rebecca Kiss, Pavla Vasickova, and Simone Östreicher ensures order and cleanliness. In summer, the team consists of 20 to 30 people, and in winter there are more than 30. On the guests' departure day, i.e. Sundays, they are supported by up to 60 additional external helpers in winter. During this time, the housekeeping team is very busy – good coordination is essential.

The housekeeping team is primarily responsible for the rooms at signinahotel and the apartments at rocksresort. In addition, they are also responsible for the Tegia Plaun and the Alp Uaul holiday cabin, as well as the Marcau, Pardanal, and Crest2000 staff houses. Their work also includes cleaning public areas such as the reception and lobby, stairwells, toilets, conference rooms, offices, and other common rooms. They are also responsible for the Freestyle Academy and some of the bars and restaurants belonging to the Weisse Arena Group.

Ana Paula Dias Goncalves and Rebecca Kiss

Rebecca Kiss is one of the assistants to housekeeper Ana Paula Dias Goncalves. She has been working for the Weisse Arena Group for more than four years. As an assistant, she has a variety of responsibilities: she helps with personnel planning and creating work schedules, places orders, and is responsible for training new employees. Quality management and compliance with hygiene regulations are also part of her job. "We also decorate the rooms and apartments when someone gets married or celebrates their birthday."

As an assistant, her working day begins with the early shift at 7:00 a.m. She plans the day's schedule and briefs the housekeeping staff. "We always explain everything in detail, which can be challenging linguistically at times, but somehow it always works out," she says with a smile. After the briefing, Rebecca works in the office to take care of various administrative tasks. Among other things, she also fulfills initial guest requests. "At 10 a.m., we start checking the rooms. We check everything very carefully and then mark the room as 'clean.'"

The entire housekeeping team at the Weisse Arena Group is very diverse. "We have many cultures, including women from Eritrea, Portugal, Slovakia, Czechia, Germany, and Switzerland. It's a lot of fun, especially during breaks." You always hear many different languages spoken at lunch. The team is also mixed in terms of age. "We have young people who are 20 years old and those who are 60 years old, which is a good mix," says Rebecca. As a rule, three people clean each rocksresort apartment for about 20 minutes. Due to the limited time available for cleaning, it is a physically demanding job. "I remember my first winter, I was always very tired in the evening," says Rebecca.

Even though housekeeping work is strenuous, Rebecca finds it very satisfying. "I like it when guests can enjoy a clean and beautiful room. I'm also happy when we receive good reviews." The housekeeping team usually works when guests are not around. That's why brief encounters are so valuable. "When guests have a problem late in the evening and we can help them in some way, and then we get a heartfelt 'thank you' in return, it's very nice. Then you know that the work is worthwhile," says Rebecca.

The housekeeping team at the Weisse Arena Group is still looking for support for the coming winter. Click here you can find the vacancies.
