Laax, June 7, 2022. Following a successful first season in 2021, the start of the 2022 Swiss Enduro Series is just around the corner. With five destinations on the calendar, four of which are new, this year's series promises to be even more exciting. LAAX will kick things off from June 11 to 12, 2022. During a training day and a race day, around 450 enduro mountain bikers will show how fast they can conquer the local bike trails.
This coming weekend, from Saturday, June 11 to Sunday, June 12, 2022, the first round of the Swiss Enduro Series 2022 powered by Subaru will take place in Switzerland's freestyle mecca, LAAX. And what a first round it will be: the event is not only the 2022 Swiss Enduro Championship, but also offers the chance to collect EWS qualification points, which entitle riders to a starting place in the Enduro World Series.
This underscores the Swiss Enduro Series' goal of raising the level and profile of enduro mountain biking in Switzerland and making it easier to get involved in enduro mountain bike racing. The organizers' hard work is already paying off: all starting places for LAAX were sold out within 24 hours.
Swiss champions 2022 wanted
The 2021 Swiss Championships proved to be a close and hard-fought competition. In the elite men's event, Patrick Lüthi took the gold medal, narrowly beating Gustav Wildhaber and Stefan Peter. In the elite women's event, Lisa Baumann caused an upset by beating the favorites, twins Anita and Carolin Gehrig. In LAAX, the cards will be reshuffled. The duel between the local twins and Lisa Baumann is eagerly awaited.
The duel between Gustav Wildhaber and Patrick Lüthi is also eagerly anticipated. Will Gustav Wildhaber succeed in taking revenge for his defeat against Patrick Lüthi, or will the favorite from western Switzerland prevail? We will find out this coming weekend in LAAX.
