The Snow League has released the schedule for its second season, which kicks off this September with the Snow League World Challenge: New Zealand
Park City will be part of the regular Snow League season schedule, and Aspen and LAAX will also be participating in the second season.
NEW YORK, NY – (June 3, 2026) – The Snow League today announced the official schedule for its highly anticipated second season: It includes the first Snow League World Challenge in Cardrona, New Zealand; the addition of Park City Mountain to the league’s regular-season schedule; and the return of events in Aspen and LAAX.
During the 2026–2027 season, three regular Snow League events will take place in North America and Europe. These will be preceded by the World Challenge at Cardrona Alpine Resort in New Zealand—a unique international event that brings together the world’s top halfpipe athletes.
Schedule for the second season
- The Snow League World Challenge: Cardrona Alpine Resort, New Zealand | September 18–20, 2026
- Event One at Buttermilk in Aspen Snowmass, CO, USA | January 7–9, 2027
- Event Two in Park City Mountain, UT, USA | January 21–23, 2027
- Event Three in Laax, Switzerland | March 11–13, 2027
The second season kicks off with the first “Snow League World Challenge” in New Zealand, a global, invitation-only event where the league’s top athletes compete in the snowboard and freeski halfpipe disciplines.
The event, which is supported by the New Zealand government, features 16 Snow League athletes from four regions: North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and “The Challengers”—up-and-coming talents from the next generation across various regions—with each team comprising one male and one female snowboarder, as well as one male and one female freeskier.
This new, team-based format highlights the global significance of snowboarding and freeskiing while creating a new competitive dynamic that differs from the league’s individual season standings.
“I am delighted that New Zealand will be hosting the first Snow League World Challenge in Cardrona,” said Louise Upston, Minister of Tourism and Hospitality. “What a treat for New Zealanders to see the world’s best snow sports athletes in action.”
Following the World Challenge, the Snow League returns to Buttermilk in Aspen Snowmass from January 7–9, a key venue for the league that will be hosting the event for the third consecutive year. The tour then moves on to Park City Mountain, which will be added to the calendar as a new venue from January 21–23. Park City Mountain, the largest ski resort in the United States and the host of the 2034 Winter Olympics in Utah, will debut an upgraded 22-foot halfpipe for the competition, setting a new standard for progress over the traditional 18-foot design. This marks the first time since the 2019 FIS World Championships that Park City Mountain will feature a halfpipe of this size.
The season will once again culminate in LAAX, Switzerland, where the 2027 Snow League World Champions will be crowned from March 11 to 13.
Founded by three-time Olympic snowboard halfpipe champion Shaun White, The Snow League has quickly established itself as the leading global platform for snowboarding and freeskiing. Its head-to-head format, cross-season rankings, “athlete-first” approach, and emphasis on progress and performance are redefining halfpipe competition.
“The first season laid the groundwork,” said White. “With the second season, we’re expanding and creating new opportunities for athletes to compete and for fans to get involved. From the launch of the Snow League World Challenge to a return to some of the sport’s most legendary venues—fans really have a lot to look forward to in the second season.”
As part of its ongoing development, the Snow League is expanding its freeskiing field for the second season, increasing the number of athletes from 16 to 24. This means that freeskiers will now compete in all phases of the competition, including the qualifying rounds. This results in a more consistent event format throughout the entire weekend. The larger field of participants raises the level of competition at every event, enables more direct showdowns, and showcases the next generation of elite freeski athletes.
The second season will also introduce an enhanced three-day competition format, with both snowboard and freeski events taking place each day. The first day will focus on the qualifying rounds, followed by the quarterfinals on the second day and the highlight—the semifinals and finals—on the third day. By integrating snowboard and freeski competitions across all three days, the
new format offers a more cohesive competition experience for fans and participants.
The events of the second season will feature the world's top snowboarders and freeskiers competing to earn points toward the overall standings. Last March, the Snow League crowned its very first world champions in LAAX, Switzerland: snowboarders Sena Tomita and Yuto Totsuka, and freeskiers Eileen Gu and Luke Harrold.
“The second season represents an exciting next step for the Snow League as we continue to expand our global presence and build on the momentum of our first season,” said Omer Atesmen, CEO of the Snow League. “We are proud to add Park City to the calendar, bringing the Snow League to one of the world’s most famous winter sports destinations. In addition to our return to Aspen and LAAX,
the launch of the first Snow League World Challenge in New Zealand gives us the opportunity to create a unique event that brings together athletes from four regions in a special international team format. Together, these events reflect our commitment to delivering world-class competitions while continuing to grow the sport and the league globally.”
With a growing international broadcast presence and coverage in more than 175 countries, the Snow League continues to bring winter sports to a global audience, combining high-performance athletics with compelling storytelling and fan-focused experiences.
Further details about the competitions, the athletes, and the experiences on and off the slopes will be announced in the coming months. Ticket sales for all events will begin at a later date.
