Sena Tomita and Yuto Totsuka are the first Snow League snowboard world champions

The Snow League LAAX titles go to Sara Shimizu (JPN) and Ryusei Yamada (JPN)

The inaugural season of the Snow League, founded by Shaun White, comes to a successful close with the snowboard finals in the LAAX halfpipe. The three-time Olympic champion personally presents the trophy to the Snow League world champions in snowboarding, Sena Tomita (JPN) and Yuto Totsuka (JPN). With total prize money of $2.2 million, the Snow League honors the world’s best halfpipe athletes.

The finals at Crap Sogn Gion were dominated by Japanese riders: Sara Shimizu and Ryusei Yamada secured the LAAX event victories, while Sena Tomita and Yuto Totsuka clinched the overall titles of the first Snow League season on this historic evening. Queralt Castellet (ESP) and Jan Scherrer (SUI) were the only Europeans to make it to the quarterfinals.

Shaun White is thrilled: “LAAX was an obvious choice for me—it hosts some of the best snowboarding events, I’ve competed here myself, and the halfpipe is considered the best in the world. That’s why LAAX is the perfect venue for the Snow League season finale.”
