Laax, November 23, 2022. The cold temperatures and snowfall of the last few nights have made it possible: LAAX will kick off the 2022/23 winter season this coming weekend, November 26–27, 2022, with the opening of the Vorab glacier. However, it is not only the start of the season that is cause for celebration, but also the awards that LAAX has received at the World Ski Awards. The "World's Best Freestyle Resort" award goes to LAAX once again. The rocksresort can also boast the "World's Best Green Ski Hotel" award.
The time has come: the first turns can be made in the LAAX winter sports area. On Saturday, November 26, 2022, LAAX will kick off the 2022/23 winter season with the opening of the Vorab glacier. Winter sports enthusiasts will have access to slopes 32 and 33 on the Vorab glacier. The snowfall of the past few days promises fantastic conditions on perfectly groomed slopes. Freestylers can already look forward to a small snow park at Vorab. Preparations are also in full swing in other parts of the winter sports area so that guests can soon enjoy a wider range of activities on the mountain. Guests can indulge in culinary delights at the Vorab restaurant at 2570 m above sea level.
The glacier will be open daily from Saturday, November 26, 2022, weather permitting. The first ascent from Laax Murschetg is at 8:30 a.m., and the last descent is at 4:30 p.m. The current weather situation and operating hours will be communicated daily on the live page or via the INSIDE LAAX app. Lift tickets are available via the web shop, via the app, and on site at the mountain railway ticket office. Dynamic prices apply both offline and online. More information about weekend operations is available at laax.com.
Two awards at the World Ski Awards 2022
The World Ski Awards are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year. Every year, they honor the most popular destinations and hotels in the international winter sports industry through jury and public voting.
LAAX is once again among the winners at this year's World Ski Awards, receiving several awards. For the seventh time, the award for "World's Best Freestyle Resort" goes to the Graubünden destination. Since the introduction of this category in 2016, LAAX has been the undisputed winner, which speaks for its diverse outdoor offerings, five snow parks, and two halfpipes.
More information about the freestyle offerings can be found here.
The rocksresort has been named "World's Best Green Ski Hotel." This is the fourth time that the rocksresort Design Hotel™ has received this award. Built to Minergie standards, the ski-in ski-out hotel is committed to the conscious use of natural resources and sustainable operations. More information about the rocksresort is available here.
LAAX received another award from Skiresort.de. The ski resort was named the test winner in the "5-star ski resort" category. Skiresort.de is the world's largest test portal for ski resorts and has been presenting the coveted industry awards since 1998.
