KIDS LAAX OPEN 2023: Switzerland's largest freestyle contest for young talent enters the next round

Laax, 02. March 2023. On the weekend vom 11to 12March 2023 , things will be hotting up at Crap Sogn Gion: The KIDS LAAX OPENare back, and with them the largest freestyle contest for young talent in Switzerland. In the disciplines of snowboard slopestyle and halfpipe, as well as ski slopestyle and halfpipe , around 360 up-and-coming freestylers will take part. Their goal: to impress the judges showwhat what tricks they have in store. Just like the Flimser Freeskistar Andri Ragettli.

Shred like the pros: The KIDS LAAX OPEN will take place on Saturday, March 11, and Sunday, March 12, 2023. The counterpart to the FIS World Cup LAAX OPEN for kids and teens aged 5 to 18 is now entering its fourth round. Getting a taste of competition, measuring yourself against your peers, and simply having fun – that's what the KIDS LAAX OPEN is all about. The contest, which was initiated by the Freestyle Academy LAAX to promote young talent, has long since established itself and is now part of the Swiss Snowboard Series and the Swiss Freeski Tour. The two-day event has always made children's eyes light up and set hearts racing with excitement, whether those of the kids themselves or their parents.

In the footsteps of the freestyle world elite

On a specially prepared course in the ils Plauns Snowpark at Crap Sogn Gion, participants compete on snowboards and skis in the slopestyle discipline. In the halfpipe discipline, they then take to the skies in the superpipe. That's right: they don't start in the mini pipe next door, but in the 200-meter-long and 6.9-meter-high superpipe in the NoName Snowpark. Just like the world's top freestyle athletes at the LAAX OPEN. Today's World Cup athletes such as David Hablützel and Andri Ragettli from Flims also proved themselves at the KIDS LAAX OPEN, formerly known as the Mini Shred Contest.

Freestyle for everyone

LAAX remains true to its motto "Freestyle for everyone": even those who have no sporting ambitions but simply want to have fun are welcome. After all, this weekend is all about having fun. In the hangar at Crap Sogn Gion, young riders can warm up with coaches from the Freestyle Academy LAAX, train their balance and tricks on balance boards, or relax after their runs with a game of ping-pong.
