Laax, November 30, 2021. On Saturday, November 27, 2021, vacation apartment owners in the Flims Laax Falera tourism region gathered in the hangar on Crap Sogn Gion at 2,252 meters above sea level. During the information event, the destination's key decision-makers were on hand to answer questions from the owners. The event served to strengthen the basis of trust between municipalities and second home owners and took place for the first time in this context and scope.
New offers, COVID-19 measures, mobility in the region, etc. are topics that are of interest not only to tourism professionals and locals, but also to second home owners. Around 280 second home owners in the area and over 400 online viewers were informed about the latest news from the Flims Laax Falera destination on Saturday, November 27, 2021. The municipalities of Flims, Laax, and Falera, together with Flims Laax Falera Management AG (FLFM) and the Weisse Arena Group (WAG), provided information on how the destination is to be further developed and promoted in the coming years. The event for second home owners took place for the first time in this format and scope.
A successful future thanks to constant exchange
The organizers agree that constructive dialogue is essential for successful cooperation between municipalities and second home owners – in line with the motto "only together can we move forward." The aim of the event was to promote exchange and resume the dialogue that had fallen dormant in recent years. News and information was presented at the event not only by the municipalities, FLFM, and WAG.
Second home owners were able to submit their questions in advance to the interest group for second home owners. And they did so diligently: "I was delighted by the enthusiasm with which questions were asked and I appreciated the perseverance of those present in listening patiently to such a concentrated load of information," said Markus Wolf, CEO of the Weisse Arena Group. In the future, temporary residents will continue to be encouraged to submit their questions to the interest group so that the dialogue can continue to be driven by specific topics.
Positive reactions from organizers and participants
The mayor of Laax and chairman of the board of FLFM, Franz Gschwend, welcomed everyone present. Vice-chairwoman of IG Zweitwohnungseigentümer (Second Home Owners Association), Ursula Hofstetter, and board member Peter Zürcher then introduced the event together with the mayor of Flims, Martin Hug. Among other things, Hug provided information on rail access to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Tectonic Arena Sardona and on the expansion of the network of bike and hiking trails. Tourism Director André Gisler presented facts and figures on the Mountain Spring Festival and the transition to a four-season destination. Markus Wolf followed with information and answers on pricing policy, dealing with COVID-19, and the goals of the WAG. Finally, the new president of the IG Zweitwohnungseigentümer, Patrick Seliner, introduced himself.
Tanja Santher, a second home owner, attended the event and was thrilled: "LAAX is and will remain my destination. The event was very informative, honest, open, and transparent. It is important and right that second home owners are involved in what is happening in a holiday region. I would definitely attend another event like this."
