Contests for young people: KIDS LAAX OPEN and Suddenrush Banked Slalom in March 2022

Laax, February 25, 2022. Freestyle for everyone – that's the motto in the Swiss winter destination of Flims Laax Falera. For the sixth time in a row, LAAX has recently been awarded the title of "World's Best Freestyle Resort." Every year, the pros thrill audiences at the renowned international LAAX OPEN. Two events in March 2022 will give younger freestylers the chance to compete in world-class setups: the KIDS LAAX OPEN and the BANKED SLALOM.

High flying in the park and pipe: KIDS LAAX OPEN March 12-13, 2022

The KIDS LAAX OPEN emerged from the Mini-Shred Contest initiated by the Freestyle Academy LAAX and is known beyond regional and even national borders. Year after year, hundreds of kids and teenagers eagerly awaited the event to show off their skills on snowboards or skis. Bravely, riders and organizers took a two-year break due to the pandemic. Now they can do it again: clear the stage for freestyle action at the KIDS LAAX OPEN!

The weekend of March 12 and 13, 2022, will be action-packed at Crap Sogn Gion. Girls and boys will be performing tricks on one and two boards on rails and kickers in the specially prepared slopestyle course at Ils Plauns. On the other side of the GALAAXY mountain station, the superpipe awaits them. There is a colorful hustle and bustle in the starting area, dialects and languages mix, stage fright sets in, and the contest, the competition with like-minded people, can begin – for some it's playful, for others it's athletically challenging. Everyone up to and including the age of 18 can take part, and older people can also experience and watch this contest, which is organized in partnership with Swiss-Ski and Swiss-Snowboard. It's worth it! The award ceremonies for the five age groups from U19 to U9 will take place at 4:00 p.m. at the rocksresort in the valley. Details and registration: laax.com/kidslaaxopen

Cooler than any video game: Banked Slalom LAAX March 4-6, 2022

Back to the roots of snowboarding is the motto a week earlier, when the SuddenRush Banked Slalom LAAX takes place for the seventh time. Banked slaloms traditionally have lots of turns and lots of age categories. Of course, there are also three different categories for children and teenagers. One thing is clear—this is cooler than any video game: in banked slalom, kids and teenagers carve their own way through the serpentines. Anyone who wants to can be accompanied.

The action on the roller coaster course between Crap Sogn Gion and Plaun, near the Free60 Natural Snowpark, is on the agenda for the new generation on Sunday, March 6, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The "oldies" – known here as Masters – as well as the pros and the open category will race through the same course on Friday (March 4) and Saturday (March 5). Registration for all is here: register.flimslaax.com
