A typical day at the mountain railway ticket office

During their apprenticeship, commercial apprentices at the Weisse Arena Group visit various departments to gain as comprehensive an insight as possible into the different areas of the company. Niah is currently working in the cashier team. She starts her morning by preparing the cash register. She counts the money, synchronizes the cash register, and makes sure that the brochures are replenished. Another important task is checking the dynamic prices to ensure that the same prices for the day are displayed on all cash registers and in the app.

Once everything is ready, she opens the cash register and starts serving customers. She sells tickets, advises guests, and ensures that they have a pleasant day in LAAX. Towards the evening, she helps with the cash register accounting. She checks that everything has been transferred correctly, counts the money, and compares the figures. If everything is correct, she closes the cash register. If there are any discrepancies, she reports this to her supervisor. Together, they then look for a solution.

She particularly enjoys working at the ticket office because she likes direct contact with guests and finds interacting with other people very rewarding. "It's always exciting to talk to different people and sell them tickets that meet their needs. It never gets boring at the ticket office, and I learn something new every day," says Niah.

An apprenticeship with prospects

Niah decided to pursue an apprenticeship as a service and administration clerk EFZ because this training provides a solid foundation for her professional future. It not only imparts comprehensive knowledge, but also provides a broad overview of the various areas of the commercial world. It is particularly important to her that this in-depth training gives her the opportunity to develop in different areas and remain flexible.

The decision to complete her apprenticeship with the Weisse Arena Group was an easy one for her due to the diversity of the company. Niah found the opportunity to gain insight into different areas of the business exciting from the very beginning. "But the opportunity to combine my training with sport was also a decisive factor for me," says Niah, who competes in freestyle snowboarding and is a member of the Swiss Snowboard junior team. As part of her sports apprenticeship, she is given sufficient time for training alongside her education, and she is granted leave from her apprenticeship for important competitions. "This allows me to pursue my passion for freestyle snowboarding. Not every company offers this kind of flexibility, which is why I chose the Weisse Arena Group as my training company," says Niah.

She particularly appreciates the team at WAG. Her colleagues are not only helpful, but also flexible, which makes everyday work very pleasant. This good cooperation motivates her to give her best every day and to continuously develop herself further.

A wide range of insights at the Weisse Arena Group

In June 2025, she will be changing departments again. From then on, Niah will be working in accounting, taking care of accounts receivable and accounts payable. Another department she will be working in during her training is marketing. She is particularly looking forward to this, as the work here is creative and very varied.  During their apprenticeship at WAG, commercial apprentices spend around six months in marketing.

Overall, she is very happy with her apprenticeship at the Weisse Arena Group: "I would definitely recommend this apprenticeship. The opportunity to get to know different departments, working in the winter sports industry, and the pleasant atmosphere in the company make this a place of learning and motivation for me," says Niah in conclusion.
