Hobbies: Skiing and biking

Manuel Dietrich grew up in Andiast/Brigels and was already skiing at the age of two. As a former plumber, he came across this profession through two acquaintances who are themselves cable car mechatronics technicians EFZ, and thus found an apprenticeship with the Weisse Arena Group. It was clear to him that he wanted to complete his second apprenticeship in a winter sports resort where there are all kinds of lifts, such as ski lifts, chairlifts, and gondola lifts. "This is also better for school, as I can immediately apply what I have learned in theory in practice," says Manuel.

When Manuel is not at school, his working day begins early in the morning with the first lifts being taken out of the garage. During the day, he carries out minor maintenance work on lifts, chairs, steel rods, etc. Manuel and his teammates must also be on call at all times in case a lift malfunction is reported. Summer preparations are also taking up a lot of time at the moment: all spare parts have to be ordered now so that inspections can be carried out in the summer. "We take the whole lift apart, check it, clean it and lubricate it so that it's ready for winter again," explains Manuel.

"I really enjoy the job because I can be outside in the sun and have a great view while I work. I would recommend the apprenticeship to anyone who enjoys being outdoors, likes variety in their work, and is good with their hands." The profession also offers opportunities to work abroad, as specialists are in demand all over the world. When asked what he will do after completing his apprenticeship, he replies: "I really like working for the Weisse Arena Group, so I've decided to stay with the company."
