The Greenstyle Foundation are launching the popular early bloomer campaign and are giving awayt 6'000 bulbs of crocuses and snowdrops!
The aim of this long-term initiative is to motivate local residents and second home owners to enhance their private green spaces, whether in their gardens, on their balconies, or on their terraces. Even small areas can make a valuable contribution to promoting biodiversity in urban areas.
Since the campaign began, over 18,000 crocus and snowdrop bulbs have been planted. This year's edition marks the start of a new round.
Early bloomers such as crocuses and snowdrops are not only the first signs of spring, they also provide important food for wild bees and bumblebees at a time when hardly anything else is in bloom. Planting the bulbs is easy and requires no prior knowledge.

Planting the tubers
Planted in the fall, they bloom in all their glory in the spring!
- The small tubers should be in the ground by the end of November at the latest.
- As undemanding flowers, they can be planted on lawns, in natural gardens or rough pastures, and even in large flower boxes. The ideal location is in partial shade, but they also tolerate full shade well. Waterlogging should be avoided to prevent rot.
- They are perennial and spread on their own if the wilted leaves are not mowed too early.
- It is best to plant the tubers individually or in small groups. Simply make holes in the lawn or open soil. The holes should be about 5 cm deep. Plant the tuber with the pointed end facing upwards and cover lightly with soil or turf.
