On Saturday, June 14, 2025, the time had finally come again: last year's Clean-Up Day, which had been canceled due to too much snow in the upper elevations, could finally take place again this year. Clean-Up Day around LAAX brought together dedicated volunteers to send a visible message about treating nature with respect.
113 people spent a day collecting trash, with the number of participants deliberately limited compared to previous years. This was not due to a lack of motivation, but out of consideration for the sensitive mountain meadows. After all, even with the best of intentions, too many helping hands can cause damage.
At 9:00 a.m. sharp, the participants met in front of the piazza at the rocksresort. There, they were given their lunch bags, gloves, and trash bags and divided into two groups: one group took the cable car up to Crap Sogn Gion, while the other was taken directly to Nagens by shuttle.
From there, smaller teams set off on different routes:
- Around Crap Sogn Gion at the halfpipes and in the snow park
- From Crap towards Curnius or Plaun
- Around Nagens
- From Nagens towards Plaun
Result: 600 kg of waste
60 full 35-liter bags containing a total of 600 kg of waste were collected. Among the items found were ski poles, a snowboard with only one binding, PET bottles, gloves, countless cigarette butts, and a striking amount of snus. Overall, less waste was collected than in previous years, which may be due to the less stormy winter – or to the ongoing awareness campaign by Greenstyle.
Strengthening at the end
After the work was done, a well-deserved meal awaited everyone at the rocksresort: grilled sausages, crispy vegetable skewers, crusty bread, and cool drinks. A joint conclusion that rounded off the day perfectly.
Thank you to all the helping hands who keep our mountain clean—see you next year!
