True to the motto "The only oil that should heat is chili oil," WAG is pursuing the goal of replacing all oil heating systems within the company with efficient and renewable systems by 2025. With the replacement of the existing building heating system in Nagens with an air/water heat pump, the company is now a big step closer to this goal.
The large oil heating system in the Berghaus Nagens was successfully replaced by a modern air/water heat pump in October 2023. Heat pumps are not only a renewable solution, but also unbeatably efficient, with energy savings of 50% to 80% depending on location and altitude. The old oil heating system consumed over 60,000 liters of heating oil every year, which corresponds to an energy consumption of approximately 600,000 kWh per year. Nagens is located at over 2,000 meters above sea level, and energy savings of at least 57% are expected. This means that future demand will only be around 270,000 kWh. This demand can be met by renewable electricity. Replacing the oil heating system is an important step towards an efficient, renewable, and fossil fuel-free energy supply for WAG.
