When Flims visits Flums: Tour of the new UNESCO gondola lift at Bartholet AG

On Saturday, 4 December 2021, all residents of Flims and owners of second homes were invited to visit the infrastructure buildings and gondolas currently under construction for the UNESCO gondola lift development at Bartholet Maschinenbau AG in Flums. They learned interesting facts about the status of the project and were able to get to know the innovative lift system and its technology. Special highlights were the Startgels sample station, a guided tour of the operation and the unveiling of the new gondola, including the naming ceremony.

“Flem Express” is the name of the new gondola lift to access the UNESCO World Heritage Tectonic Arena Sardona from Flims via Foppa, Startgels to the Segneshütte and from there either to Nagens or Ils Cugns. The name was unveiled at the viewing event at the cable car producer Bartholet Maschinenbau AG in Flums with the Flims electorate.

The innovative lift system and its technology left lasting impressions on the people of Flims, including Beat Livers: “This is an amazing event. Everyone was able to see the gondolas with the new system up close. A very nice name for a great innovation. The Bartholet company made a big impression on me.”

The construction work will begin in spring 2022 and can be followed continuously via a video construction diary.
