A special occasion for special people: At this year’s Weisse Arena Group dinner for long-serving employees and retirees on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, the focus was on gratitude, shared memories, and celebrating long-standing loyalty.
Even during the cocktail reception at the Camino Bar, it became clear what this day was really about: heartfelt connections. The four retirees in attendance and the 20 employees celebrating their anniversaries toasted together, laughed, shared memories, and brought old stories back to life. The atmosphere was warm and lively—fueled by people bound together by far more than just their workplace: a shared journey filled with dedication and passion.
During his acceptance speech, Reto Gurtner made it clear just how much the Weisse Arena Group thrives on the dedication, loyalty, and exceptional commitment of its employees. He then congratulated the retirees personally and presented them with a farewell gift as a token of appreciation.
Through their daily dedication and their stories, each and every employee shapes the Weisse Arena Group in their own unique way. We’d like to introduce two of these employees in a bit more detail.

Uwe Reisdorf, a loyal employee who has been with WAG for 20 years
“It was by chance that I ended up at the Weisse Arena Group—but I stayed because of the people. I felt at home here right from the start, and I really appreciate that I can just be myself.”
I landed my first job in a rather unusual way: I wasn’t too tall for the kitchen in Larnags, where the ceiling was quite low. That was apparently a key hiring criterion, and that’s how I got the job. From there, my career path took me through various companies until I finally ended up in the HR department, where I work today.
I would describe my time at WAG as follows: always on the move, educational, and characterized by freedom.
“There’s one special moment from August 1996 that I still remember to this day: I was standing near the entrance to the cable car in Laax, where the rocksresort stands today. Suddenly, people in ski boots clattered past me. I was puzzled until I realized: they’re heading to the Vorab Glacier! Back then, it was still open for summer skiing. It’s a moment I’ll never forget.”
Ignaz Demarmels, a recent retiree
“Five years ago, I stumbled upon this place quite by chance. What began as a spontaneous opportunity quickly turned into a place where I truly feel at home.”
I still remember my first day on the job in the infrastructure division: it was exciting, intense, and full of new experiences. There was a lot of information to take in, plenty to discover, and that feeling of being welcomed. From the very beginning, I saw WAG as an innovative employer—open to new ideas and characterized by a strong sense of teamwork. As a result, I settled in quickly.
If I had to describe my time here in a few words, I would say: educational, very, very friendly, and just plain fun. It is exactly this combination that has defined my daily work and makes WAG so special to me.
