Twisty! Suddenrush Banked Slalom LAAX 2023

The 8th Suddenrush Banked Slalom LAAX will take place from March 3-5, 2023, in LAAX, Switzerland. The "Banked" is a timed snowboard race. On the one hand, this statement seems somewhat unusual for the world's leading freestyle resort, as the many snow parks in the Flims-Laax-Falera destination invite you to jib and trick with style and without speed limits. On the other hand, it is the most natural thing in the world, as it all grew out of the "banked," the steep curve! This was back when snowboards didn't have edges and the uneven terrain was used to gain momentum and descend. Those who were best at this had a lot of fun and were already at the forefront back then! Banked is therefore considered the most original snowboarding discipline.

The craze for "steep curve races" reappeared a few years ago and, since 2015, has been attracting hundreds of people to Crap Sogn Gion above LAAX. With high spirits, waxed boards, and a good dose of stamina, it's time to go full speed ahead. Because whoever completes the winding course the fastest wins!

There are 350 starting places available for snowboarders of all ages and genders who want to compete, with rankings in many categories. From junior to professional to senior – aptly named "champions" at Banked. Among the champions are illustrious names of Olympians as well as recreational athletes. The strongest category is the open category for all 18-39 year olds. The coolest are the kids, who race downhill in three age groups for girls and boys.
