Laax, May 9, 2023. This summer, construction work will be underway in many places in the Flims Laax Falera destination. In Flims, the first sections of the new FlemXpress gondola lift are being built and the chairlifts to Naraus are being dismantled. Due to the construction work, the Arena Express will run during the summer for the first time. This will create new starting points for bike trails and hiking routes.
Mountain biking, hiking, or trail running—all of these activities will become even more appealing in the Flims Laax Falera destination in the future. With the construction of the new FlemXpress gondola lift, the Weisse Arena Group and the municipality of Flims are investing around 80 million Swiss francs in the future of the mountain. The FlemXpress will open up the UNESCO World Heritage Site Tectonic Arena Sardona and make it accessible to everyone.
Take the Arena Express to the bike trails for the first time
This summer, the Arena Express will take guests from Flims via Plaun and Scansinas to Nagens. The gondolas will take cyclists directly to the start of the Nagens Trail. The upper section is particularly suitable for beginners and families: simply get back on the train in Scansinas and ride lap after lap. The continuation of the Nagens Trail leads to Laax Murschetg or via Green Valley and Runca Trail to Flims. Not only is the Arena Express operating for the first time in summer, but the Freeride Base, which is very popular in winter, is also open and offers, among other things, the best barista coffee.
Home of Enduro in LAAX
From the Arena Express mountain station, cyclists can take an easy climb to Grauberg and from there to the Segnes Trail at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Tectonic Arena Sardona. From Nagens, you can also cycle to the Vorab Glacier. The Vorab Trail begins at the foot of the glacier, leading first through rocky terrain, then over roots and forest floor down into the valley. Pure enduro pleasure.
Out and about on varied hikes
The Arena Express also offers numerous opportunities for hiking, climbing, and trail running. From the Nagens mountain station, guests can hike towards Grauberg. The trail then leads down to Segnesboden and the Sardona Tectonic Arena. From there, it is possible to hike along the "Trutg dil Flem" waterway to Flims.
Construction work on the new FlemXpress is progressing
In summer 2023, the first two sections, Flims–Foppa and Foppa–Startgels, will be built and put into operation for the 2023/24 winter season. The Segnes, Nagens Sura, and Cassons stations will be completed in summer 2024 and put into operation for the 2024/25 winter season. For those interested, construction site tours are also planned for this summer, offering an insight into the innovative technology of the FlemXpress and construction in alpine regions.
