New Segnes Trail opens in LAAX

Laax, August 16, 2022. Just in time for the weekend, the new Segnes Trail in LAAX will open on Friday, August 19, 2022. Following the Nagens Trail, this marks the completion of the second "BikeVision" project in the Flims Laax Falera region. The trail will gain in importance in view of the dismantling of the Flims-Foppa-Naraus chairlift, as it will serve as a new connection to the popular Runca Trail via Flem Xpress in the future.

Summer is slowly coming to an end. But that's no reason to store your bike in the basement! As autumn approaches, cyclists in LAAX can look forward to another real highlight: after a two-month construction phase, the new Segnes Trail will officially open on Friday, August 19, 2022. It leads from the Segnes Hut to the start of the Runca Trail and is characterized by its varied, natural character.

A highlight over rock and stone

The red-marked Enduro Trail is aimed at advanced bikers. It starts at the Segnes Hut at 2,100 meters and leads directly to the start of the Runca Trail over a distance of 2.7 kilometers and an elevation gain of 310 meters. The upper, rocky part of the trail is characterized by the Flims rockslide. Towards the Runca Trail, it becomes increasingly flowy and playful. Allegra Tourismus was commissioned to build the trail, focusing on creating a natural character. Varied elements such as stone slabs, jumps, and banked turns give the Segnes Trail that certain something. With views of the mighty rock face of the Flimserstein, bikers can enjoy a unique riding experience in Graubünden.

Another milestone in the implementation of "BikeVision"

The municipality of Flims invested around CHF 300,000 in the new bike trail, and more are already in the planning stage: "Following the construction of the Nagens Trail, the Segnes Trail is now the second of six planned trail projects to be implemented as part of the 'BikeVision' initiative in LAAX," explains Johannes Schilder, Bike Product Manager at Flims Laax Falera Management AG, adding: "The bike offering in the region will be further expanded with a focus on family-friendly offerings and beginner trails with green and blue difficulty levels."

The Segnes Trail will serve as a connection to the Runca Trail via the new "Flem Xpress" gondola lift once the Flims-Foppa-Naraus chairlift has been dismantled. Once the Flem Xpress has been completed in spring 2025, the three trails Runca, Nagens, and Segnes will be directly accessible by rail, further improving connections to the LAAX bike trails.
