LAAX rider Andri Ragettli donates CHF 1,000 to the Greenstyle Foundation

Laax, November 28, 2019 – "Ragettli jumps naked for the climate" was the headline in the media in spring 2019 about Andri Ragettli's clip on the internet. At the time, the LAAX rider – wearing only his underwear – collected likes for a donation to a climate protection foundation. No sooner said than done. 1,000 Swiss francs have now been handed over to the Greenstyle Foundation in his home town of Flims Laax Falera. This will now support a free repair service for clothing.

Swiss freeskier and LAAX rider Andri Ragettli continues to cause a stir nationally and internationally with his unusual videos. Particularly popular are his gym parkour videos, each with 80 million views. In spring 2019, a slightly different video made headlines: wearing only his underwear, Ragettli performed somersaults and spins over three jumps in a row at over 3,000 meters above sea level (the video can be viewedhere). The idea behind it: the winter sportsman collected likes for climate protection. He donated one cent for every like. The video received 100,000 likes, so Ragettli kept his promise and donated 1,000 Swiss francs to the Greenstyle Foundation in Laax on November 22, 2019.

The money is now being invested in sustainable solutions in tourism. One example is the new clothing repair service at the Riders Hotel in Laax, which will be available free of charge during the 2019/2020 winter season. The aim in LAAX is to counteract the fast fashion trend, as the production of every new item of clothing consumes enormous amounts of resources and harms the environment. However, it is important to Andri Ragettli that he is not perceived as a climate ambassador: "As a winter sports athlete, I have a poor ecological footprint due to the flights I take to international competitions. Nevertheless, I want to contribute to climate protection. That's how this idea ultimately came about." Senta Gautschi, President of the Greenstyle Foundation, is also delighted with Andri Ragettli's commitment: "It's great that more and more young people want to contribute to climate protection. This includes the local LAAX riders. It's particularly positive that professional athletes are seen as role models among the young target group and that their messages are therefore very valuable."

About the Greenstyle Foundation

The Greenstyle Foundation is a non-profit organization and a collaboration between the Weisse Arena Group and committed individuals and companies in the holiday destination of Flims Laax Falera. It is dedicated to preserving and developing the environment. Since its founding in 2016, around 21,100 Swiss francs in funding has been allocated to a total of 10 projects. For example, in the 2018/2019 winter season, it supported the successful exhibition "Nachlese. Die Poesie des Gefundenen" (Afterglow. The Poetry of Found Objects) at the Gelbes Haus in Flims. Artist Ursula Stalder created an art exhibition on the theme of littering using waste materials. The "material" for the exhibition came from the Weisse Arena Group's Clean-Up Day and was collected by over 400 volunteers.
