Laax, January 13, 2020. The LAAX OPEN, Europe's most prestigious snowboarding event, will take place from January 13 to 18, 2020. LAAX, known as Europe's most progressive resort for freestyle sports, will once again be the center of attention for the global snowboarding community and will offer participants and spectators a breathtaking week.

The event kicked off today with the men's slopestyle qualification on Crap Sogn Gion under blue skies. The riders had a lot of fun on the innovative slopestyle course with six elements. Top favorites such as Sebastien Toutant (CAN), Staale Sandbech (NOR), Sven Thorgren (SWE), Mons Roisland (NOR), and Olympic slopestyle champion Red Gerard (USA) qualified for the semifinals later in the week, as did Clemens Millauer (AUT) and Switzerland's Nicolas Huber and Moritz Thönen (third place last year).

On Thursday, the halfpipe riders will take to the slopes for the first time, including last year's winner Scotty James (AUS), the Swiss Armada led by Olympic champion Iouri Podladtchikov, Spain's Queralt Castellet, and the 2018 LAAX OPEN winner Jiayu Liu (CHN).

The highlights of the week are the slopestyle final on Friday and the superpipe night final on Saturday. New this year is the TAG Team Crossover Slopestyle Session on Saturday afternoon. For the first time, snowboarders and freeskiers will compete together as a team in an exciting head-to-head battle.
