LAAX launches digital experience on the "Senda dil Dragun" treetop walk

Digital experience Laax treetop walk White Arena Group

Laax, October 7, 2021. In July 2021, the "Senda dil Dragun," the world's longest treetop walk in the world, celebrated its opening. Around 60,000 guests have visited the walk . From October 9, 2021, it will offer a new highlight: augmented reality, visitors of all ages will be accompanied along the path with images and stories.

Stretching 1.56 kilometers, the "Senda dil Dragun" offers a nature experience for the whole family. At five locations along the way, guests can learn interesting facts about the flora and fauna of Laax. Until now, however, this has only been available in analog form. This will change from Saturday, October 9, 2021. From then on, the leisure experience will be enhanced by a new digital element: visitors will be able to rent tablets and Cardbox glasses, which will enhance their experience on the trail through augmented reality. There is currently no comparable implementation in tourism anywhere else in Europe.

Combining nature with digital experiences
As a digital pioneer in alpine tourism, LAAX has been focusing on combining nature with state-of-the-art technology for several years. The treetop walk is no exception: using augmented reality (AR), visitors can learn exciting facts about the Surselva and Graubünden regions via tablet or Cardbox glasses from OPPO Mobile. Digital images, videos, graphics, and stories convey the content.

Familiar faces behind the stories
Anyone wondering why the treetop walk in Laax is called "Senda dil Dragun" (English: "Dragon Trail") will find the answer in the story written for children. It revolves around the dragon woman "Spurflonda" and her friends, as well as the wizard Ami Sabi. The idea behind the story came from Graubünden storyteller Linard Bardill, who had already developed the Ami Sabi children's program for the destination. The characters were brought to life by another Graubünden native, Ditti Bürgin-Brook from La Siala Entertainment GmbH, who is also known as the producer of the movie "Schellen-Ursli": "The opportunity to explore new forms of storytelling as a storyteller and at the same time set new standards in communicating values in tourism was an exciting task and a great pleasure for me and my team," says Ditti Bürgin-Brook.

A separate story has been created for adults: they encounter the well-known actor Andrea Zogg as the narrator, who appears as an AR character and uses his stories to explain how, for example, the prehistoric Lake Ilanz was formed. The topics are illustrated using a 3D topology model.

Starting Saturday, October 9, 2021, the AR experience will be available to guests on the treetop walk in Laax. To mark the launch of the new attraction, Linard Bardill will give a concert at 4 p.m. at the entrance tower of the rocksresort in Laax Murschetg.
