COVID-19 throws a spanner in the works: No Sudden Rush Banked Slalom LAAX 2021

Laax, February 12, 2021. The SuddenRush Banked Slalom in LAAX stands for openness and sustainability. It is a cross-generational experience for everyone who wants to celebrate the most original discipline of snowboarding, the banked slalom, together with like-minded people. That's how it was when LAAX, together with SuddenRush and snowboard legends Terje Haakonsen and Nicolas Müller, launched the event in 2014, and that's how it still is today, in February 2021.

However, the current situation is different from back then. Due to the global pandemic and the associated guidelines, a mixed event for amateurs and professionals will not receive cantonal approval.

But it is precisely this mix that has made this event so special from the very beginning! No matter what age, gender, whether tall, short, famous, young, experienced, oldie but goldie or race king, weekend cruiser, Olympic champion or park shredder, pipe rider or boardercross fan – SuddenRush LAAX is open to everyone! The so-called OPEN class has always had the most registrations in the last six editions. The OPEN category also produced the best times of the day, which left many a pro perplexed in the rankings. In this respect, it is out of the question for the organizing hosts to stage a SuddenRush Banked Slalom in LAAX only for professional athletes.

#SuddenRushLAAX2021
So, SuddenRush Banked Slalom LAAX 2021 cannot take place in its usual form. However, we hope everyone finds their own banked turn on the originally scheduled weekend of March 5-7, 2021! Whether it's in the LAAX winter sports area, which has had a functioning COVID-19 safety concept in place since the start of the season, is currently open, and offers perfect snow conditions. Or whether it's somewhere else in the Alps or mountains around the world. Those who can't find a way to master a steep turn, a fast turn, or a gallant curve in the snow can get creative indoors or outdoors, inventing an alternative in the city, the garage, or the park. They can reminisce or actively look ahead by already doing dry training in their living room or on the balcony for the many steep turns of the Banked Course near Crap Sogn Gion in 2022.

#SuddenRushLAAX2021 is set to be the digital platform connecting LAAX Banked Rider! And there's definitely something to be won.
