In 1978, the six-seater gondola lift built by Habegger from Crap Masegn to Fuorcla and on to the foot of the Vorab Glacier went into operation. The gondola lift now has one last winter ahead of it before it is decommissioned.
Ten examples of the iconic white and red cabins will be auctioned off on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Flims village and trade fair. Anyone who would like to take home a piece of mountain railway history can take part in the auction between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. at stand no. 88 of the Weisse Arena Group (between the tourist information office and the Yellow House). The starting bid is CHF 750, and all proceeds will be donated to the Greenstyle Foundation.
In summer 2025, the railway system will be modernized as part of a retrofit. A new eight-seater gondola lift will be built with the same route. Most of the stations and supports will remain in place. The new facility will go into operation in winter 2025/26. Visitors can find out more about the construction project at the Weisse Arena Group stand at the Flims Village and Trade Fair 2024.
