Bike to Work Challenge: LAAX crew shows its hard-working side and covers over 8,500 kilometers

Bikes instead of cars – that's the slogan of Pro Velo Switzerland's nationwide "bike to work" campaign. Every year in May and June, thousands of people get on their bikes and cycle to work. At the Weisse Arena Group, 44 people in 11 teams took part this year. This saved a total of 1,225 kilograms of CO2.

The "bike to work" challenge has been on the agenda of Weisse Arena Group employees for years. This is the 13th time that the Weisse Arena Group has taken part in the Switzerland-wide campaign. The aim of the "bike to work" challenge is to raise awareness of sustainable mobility and offer an environmentally friendly and healthy alternative to the car. A total of 44 WAG employees regularly cycled or rode their e-bikes to work this year. The results of the 11 teams are impressive: Weisse Arena Group employees covered an incredible 8,595 kilometers during the campaign. This saved 1,225 kilograms of CO2 and helped to reduce CO2 emissions.

The best teams in the Weisse Arena Group

Of the 11 teams in the Weisse Arena Group, "Paul & the Jerry Racing Team" (Paul Hertel, Simone Oestreicher, Mirjam Gloor, Remo Schöpfer) were the most successful, as they were last year. (Paul Hertel is not in the picture). Second place went to "Die Lightspeeds" (Uwe Reisedorf, Graziella Casutt, Gianin Christoffel, and Rebecca Doll). The podium was completed by Team Superfast (Toni Kalberer, Reto Fry, Sandrina Hirzel, and Patrick Hug). The members of these teams cycled to work almost every day, despite the rainy weather in May.

In the individual classification, Toni Kalberer from "Team Superfast" finished first with 634 km. Markus Freiburghaus from the "Firschlug.Freihei.Fahrrad!" team came second with 621 km. Ursin Saluz from "Team OhneFlo" came third with a total of 607 km.

Congratulations to the best teams and the most dedicated cyclists!
