And once again, the Bike to Work Challenge is history. The teams started the race with great motivation, with some teams even doing extra laps in the Flims forest on their way home. The Weisse Arena Group with Flims Laax Falera Management AG was very well represented this year, with a total of nine teams and 35 participants. The Switzerland-wide campaign to promote health and team building in companies has been running since 2005. Every day in May and June 2018, employees from Flims Laax Falera and the surrounding area cycled to work and home in wind, rain, or heat. Fortunately, there was no snow this year.
In total, Weisse Arena Group employees clocked up 6,509 kilometers by bike, with all participants combined cycling to work on average 82% of their working days. This is a tremendous achievement, as it saved 937 kilograms of CO2. That's 100 kg more than last year, by the way! Congratulations and thank you to all the hard-working cyclists.
Highlights of the 2018 Bike to Work Challenge
- Reto Fry: 720 kilometers – highest mileage on an e-bike
- Christian Sutter: 408 kilometers – Highest mileage without an e-bike
- SUI1 Team – Most successful team with a total distance of 1,309 kilometers (Reto Fry 720 km, Senta Gautschi 281 km, Martin Garbely 256 km, and Rento Nigg 52 km)
Dinner as a reward
All bike to work participants will once again be invited to a delicious dinner. The registration deadline for the dinner and the date will be announced at a later date. The team "die jungen Radler" (Pascal Krieger, Lisa Lerchi, Domenica Ryter, and Christina Ragettli), who cycled 976 kilometers, were also lucky and were rewarded with Migros Fitnesspark passes in the overall prize draw.
