All employees of the Weisse Arena Group from various departments such as ski patrol, snowmaking, slope preparation, railways, ticket offices, shops and rentals, ski and snowboard school, catering and hotels, Freestyle Academy, events, and all employees of Casa Prima were invited. That's quite a lot of race participants and fans, because a total of around 1,300 employees work for the Weisse Arena Group in winter, ensuring that everyone has a perfect stay in LAAX. After a great season with lots of snow, it was time for the employees to get together, have fun, and enjoy an evening together with a good dinner.
The race format of the 27th employee ski and snowboard race is already historic for WAG. Anyone seeing the race slope from Crap Sogn Gion towards Alp Dado for the first time is initially shocked! Four parallel slaloms with eleven gates are set up close together, making you feel nervous. The ski school team with Hampi Casutt and ten volunteers was responsible for ensuring that the race ran smoothly. Christian Sutter also provided expert commentary for the race!
When the start numbers were handed out, all race participants were divided into balanced groups of four. There were a total of 32 teams and over 120 race participants. Each racing team included at least one snowboarder and, where possible, telemark skiers or, even more rarely, snowbladers. The race began and four teams started simultaneously at full speed from the starting gate. As soon as the first team member reached the finish line, the second team member started, and so on. The race lasted 1.5 hours and rarely had so many motivated racers at the start. The best teams advanced to the next round until, at the end, the beaming winners were crowned in the GALAAXY and received their prizes. Of course, a delicious dinner from Robert Adams' GALAAXY team and good wine were a must before the last gondola took everyone back down to the valley at 10:30 p.m.
Many thanks to the organizers from the HR department, LAAX School, and GALAAXY!
