Laax, October 25, 2021. Today marks the start of the mountain autumn season in the Flims Laax Falera destination. Following a successful mountain spring season, this also signals the end of the second off-season. For the first time, a continuous range of tourist activities will enable a seamless transition from summer to winter and is intended to make a stay in the mountains appealing to guests in the fall as well.
With the end of the fall holidays, many mountain destinations return to quiet until the winter season begins. But not in Flims Laax Falera: with a continuous offering from today, October 25, to November 28, 2021, the destination is bridging the off-season and thus offering a seamless transition from the end of the summer season to the beginning of the winter season. The mountain railways, various hotels and restaurants, and leisure companies are all on board.
Successful mountain spring as a foundation
The encouraging visitor numbers in spring 2021 were a clear sign to those responsible that there is a demand for vacations in the mountains even during the off-season. This fall, the themes of "nature, action, and relaxation" will form the cornerstones of a varied range of tourist attractions. Various hotels and restaurants, retailers and businesses, as well as leisure providers, responded to the call to work together to create a comprehensive range of offers for guests. Tourism Director André Gisler says: "It is only logical that we want to continue and expand on the path we took in spring. Depending on the altitude, activities such as hiking, biking, and snow sports form the basis of the mountain autumn season. Our motto is: We are there for our guests 365 days a year."
New offers and continuous mountain railway operation
Visitors can also look forward to new offers during the Mountain Autumn festival: for example, there are two new Discovery Shuttles for hikers and bikers. Guests can discover what the region has to offer away from the well-known routes. Those who prefer to travel by train rather than bus will not be disappointed either, as the mountain railways will also remain in operation. The chairlift from Flims to Foppa and from Foppa to Naraus runs from Thursday to Sunday.
When the weather is fine, the Grauberg cable car also operates at weekends. This is particularly good news for cyclists and hikers who want to explore the area around Nagens and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Tectonic Arena Sardona. As soon as winter sports begin on the Vorab Glacier, the Crap Sogn Gion cable car will also be in operation, transporting cyclists, hikers, paragliders, and winter sports enthusiasts up the mountain. At lower altitudes, the Caumasee lift runs daily.
