On Saturday, 14 June 2025, the time had come again: last year’s Clean-Up-Day, which was cancelled due to too much snow in the upper altitudes, could finally be held again this year. The Clean-Up-Day around LAAX brought together committed helpers to set a visible example for the respectful treatment of nature.
113 people collected rubbish for a day, although the number of people was deliberately limited compared to previous years. Not for lack of motivation, but out of consideration for the sensitive mountain meadows. After all, too many helping feet with good intentions can also cause damage.
The participants met punctually at 09.00 a.m. in front of the piazza at the rocksresort. There, everyone received their lunch bags, gloves and rubbish bags and were split into two groups: One group took the cable car up to Crap Sogn Gion, while the other was taken directly to Nagens by shuttle.
From there, they set off on various routes in smaller teams:
– Around the Crap Sogn Gion at the halfpipes and in the snowpark
– From the Crap in the direction of Curnius or Plaun
– Around Nagens
– From Nagens in the direction of Plaun
Result: 600 kg of waste
60 35-litre bags filled to the brim with a total of 600 kg of waste were collected. This included ski poles, a snowboard with only one binding, PET bottles, gloves, countless cigarette butts and a conspicuous amount of snus. Overall, less waste was collected than in previous years, which may be due to the less stormy winter – or also to the ongoing awareness-raising as part of Greenstyle.
Refreshments at the end
After the work was done, well-deserved refreshments awaited everyone at the rocksresort: grilled sausages, crispy vegetable kebabs, crusty bread and cool drinks. A joint finale that rounded off the day perfectly.
