Halfpipe night final: Australian-New Zealand podium for the men, Asian podium for the women

In front of thousands of spectators, Gaon Choi (KOR) and Scotty James (AUS) win the halfpipe night final at the LAAX OPEN 2026 presented by Zalando. In a nerve-wracking and high-class decision, James secures his fifth LAAX OPEN victory. The Australian triumphs with an outstanding second run, possibly one of the best he has ever performed in a competition. Particularly impressive: a switch backside double cork 1440 mute, which was landed for only the second time ever in a contest. Campbell Ives Melville (NZL) and Valentino Guseli (AUS) complete the top 3. In the women's competition, Gaon Choi stands at the top of the podium. The Korean impresses with a strong backside 900 stalefish and a frontside 1080 melon, leaving her competitors no chance. Rise Kudo (JPN) and Cai Xuetong (CHN) follow in second and third place.
