Laax, March 9, 2021. On April 16, 2021, Flims Laax Falera will kick off mountain spring and, with this initiative, market this season as a separate tourist season for the first time. The destination will thus offer its guests deals and activities immediately following the winter season, during a time of year when mountain tourism is traditionally interrupted.
When the turquoise waters of Lake Cauma reappear from beneath the ice and the first crocuses bloom in the meadows around Foppa, it's springtime in Flims Laax Falera. Guests will be able to witness the awakening of nature here for the first time this spring, starting on April 16, 2021. By providing tourist attractions in spring, the destination aims to establish this season as a season in its own right. This will enable guests to enjoy holidays in the mountains outside the main summer and winter seasons.
Seamless seasonal transition in tourism offerings
Since 2019, the destination of Flims Laax Falera has been positioning and marketing itself year-round with the Flims and LAAX brands. During the slow booking period in spring, the majority of tourism businesses and service partners were closed, the mountain railways stood still, and tourism offerings, experiences, and events were in short supply. This is now set to change with "Bergfrühling 2021" (Mountain Spring 2021), explains Markus Wolf, CEO of the Weisse Arena Group in Laax: "With this initiative, we are launching a new tourist season in Flims Laax Falera. In this way, we are increasingly developing into a year-round destination. The aim is to offer our guests a wide range of experiences throughout all four seasons – including spring and, ultimately, autumn."
Although the winter season in Flims Laax Falera still has a good month to go, local tourism partners are already preparing for spring – true to the motto "after the season is before the season." Various hotels and restaurants, retailers and businesses, as well as leisure providers, responded to the call to work together to create a comprehensive range of offers for guests. André Gisler, tourism director of Flims Laax Falera, is delighted with the solidarity within the destination: "The current challenges have changed a lot. We can see this as an opportunity. I am very pleased that we are breaking new ground together with our partners and service providers."
New offers for the start of "Bergfrühling 2021" (Mountain Spring 2021)
In addition to the cornerstones of the hotel industry, gastronomy, trade, and commerce, transportation is a key factor in the implementation of Bergfrühling. The chairlift from Flims to Foppa will therefore be in operation from April 16 to 18 and daily from April 23, 2021. The Caumasee Lift will start operating even earlier, on March 13, 2021. However, the project managers were not only concerned with making existing services available earlier, but also with creating new ones: guests can look forward to two new shuttle bus lines, from Flims to Trin Station and from Falera via Valendas to Laax Murschetg. Both lines will be in operation daily from April 16, 2021. The RhB adventure train, with its open observation car, will also run through the Rhine Gorge on weekends starting April 24, 2021. "Access to different altitudes allows us to be equipped with the right offerings for every season and all weather and climate conditions," André Gisler is convinced.
