BANKED SLALOM is the most original snowboarding discipline. Back to the roots is the motto when, every first weekend in March, 300 snowboarders of all ages take to the hand-shaped steep turns course in LAAX and compete against each other.
The most important thing is to have fun snowboarding together. Even when time is of the essence, as is usually the case in a race, style and culture are just as important as technique, ingenuity, fitness, and ambition. That's snowboarding for you.
When asked what they like about BANKED SLALOM LAAX, the colorful finish area echoes with answers: the turns, the crowds, being out and about with friends, family, the fan club, and "the thrill of wondering whether I'll make it onto the podium!" And he did, the young man with the diamond stud earring and the fast board under his feet. "I wax my legs and my board," says the Tiger Lady with Canadian roots, who has been snowboarding for 30 years and competes in the Banked Slalom in LAAX every time, with a loud laugh. "That's snowboarding. You have to love it!" She is absolutely right, and she cheers on the next riders while dancing to the live DJ sound of Frutti di Mare in the finish area.
Former pros such as Ueli Kestenholz, Peter Bauer, Pascal Imhof, and Reto Neiger are also happily heading down into the valley, delighted with their medals, but above all with a cool event in 2025 and the new race in LAAX in 2026. The complete list of results from BANKED SLALOM LAAX 2025 can be found on the event website www.laax.com/banked-slalom, along with fast-paced and colorful photos of all the riders and curvy drone shots.
